Instructor Profile - Mr. Tack Let me introduce myself, I'm Tack Sayavong and I know my name is a handfull. I am one of the instructors that teach here at The Swim Center. I currently attend Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. I love food and swimming altogether in one. I also work at Publix in Morrow. My childhood was not exactly normal. My parents came from Laos and brought my brothers and sisters to America. They first lived in California where I was born. My mother passed away when I was a baby. Then, my father passed away when I was 3. Having no relatives in Californa, the only thing my brothers and sister could do was to live with our grandparents who were in Gerogia. Growing up I first started swimming when I was 3 when my grandpa threw me in the water and said "swim". It wasn't that bad but I learned that day to keep my head above the water and keep my legs moving. Later on I was placed in a group home, from there I began to self teach my self about swimming. As I grew up I was given lessons and soon I learned to swim. The real lesson I had was when my foster mom told me to swim on the deep end with her or I won't get dessert for dinner. That day I truly swam. From there I learned more and then in high school I joined the swim team. There I also met Jennifer Hill as she was my technology teacher and the sponser of TSA. Once I learned that she also taught swimming classes in the summer, I talked her into letting me come out and help. Loving to swim so much, I decided to volunteer my time in the summer to help teach swimming as an aid. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to teach too. I got my WSI and became a swim instructor. From there I was hired as an official instructor in the summer of 2007 and have made many new friends and met interesting people. |
