Instructor Profile - Miss Jessie

My name is Jessie Simpson. I have been working at The Swim Center since 2009. I started as an assistant instructor. When Mrs. Jennifer approached me about teaching swim lessons during the summer, I couldn’t believe my luck! What a great way to spend thesummer! WhatI didn’t know at the time was how unbelievablygratifying it is to watch someonewho was a little afraid of the water at the beginning of the summer become an avid swimmer by the end of summer. I never swam for a team. I love just playing in the pool. But, my favorite stroke is the breast stroke.

Special Olympics have been a huge part of my life. My mom runs Honey Creek Youth Ranch which provides therapeutic riding for special needs children. Having grown up with so much diversity, I have really learned skills to work with all different types of people. This year I signed up to be one of the swim coaches for the Special Olympics Swim Team. The team that I coach in Henry County competes against other counties in the Georgia Summer Olympic Games.

I am also a 2011 graduate of Ola High School.  I plan on studying History at Georgia State University. In my spare time I enjoy painting and watching movies.
