Instructor Profile - Mrs. Holly K.
Hi, my name is Holly King. I am native of Georgia. I grew up in Conyers and graduated from Heritage High School in 1986. After earning a BBA in Marketing from the University of Georgia, I began a 15 year career with Macy’s Department Store. I worked as a manager in many of the Atlanta area stores working my way up from ajunior executive position to a senior executive position. During my career with Macy’s, I married my husband Jamie. A few years later we were blessed with the birth of our oldest daughter Gracie. When Macy’s and Rich’s merged into one store in 2003, I left Macy’s and took a position as Assistant Store Manager with Belk Department Store in McDonough. After the birth of our second daughter S arah, my husband and I made the decision that it would benefit our family for me to be a stay at home mom. This past year I returned to work. Not as a retail manager, but as the director of my church’s preschool. Everyday I am rewarded with smiles and giggles of children exploring all the possibilities of the world around them.
I met Jennifer when I enrolled Gracie in a level one class when she was 3 years old. Jennifer was hesitant to enroll a child so young. She did not offer a toddlers class at the time, and Jennifer was concerned about Gracie’s height. We gave it a try. Gracie could just keep her head above water by standing on tiptoes. Not only did Gracie pass level one that summer, but she did very well in level two. Sarah was a baby at the time and took to the water immediately. Thanks to Jennifer, Gracie is a very good swimmer. She is six years old and will be repeating a level four class at the beginning of this summer. Gracie loves the water and loves to swim different strokes. Sarah is now 4 years old and can also swim but is very reluctant to leave the shallow end of the pool!
I love the water and I love children, so it only seemed natural to ask Jennifer if I could begin teaching classes. She told me what I would need to do and got me started. My only interest at this point is in teaching the waterbabies, toddler time, and level 1 classes. It is so rewarding to see the kids gain confidence and explore the water.
