Hi, my name is Elisabeth Swan, yes spelled just like the character in the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean.” I was adopted from Bolivia basically at
birth in 1993. I am a recent graduate of Woodland High School. I played varsity volleyball and tennis all four years of high school. I plan on studying Biology at Georgia State University in the fall. After obtaining my bachelor’s degree of science, I would like to continue my education and obtain a degree in Veterinary Medicine. I love animals and I own two horses which I care for and ride often. I also volunteer at the Henry County Humane Society and A Friend’s House.
Summer is my favorite season, and I love being in the pool. I began swimming when I was a toddler in Buffalo, NY. When we moved to Georgia, I took swimming lessons with The Swim Center. I should add that Jennifer Hill is my cousin, so by default I had to learn to be a good swimmer. When I was old enough, I joined the Tara Tarpons Swim Team. I swam for the Tarpons for four years. Then I swam for SMART for 2 years. My fastest and favorite stroke is the freestyle.
My first job was as a lifeguard for Collins Pool Management. Jennifer recruited me to teach swim lessons after two summers of lifeguarding. I have discovered that teaching adults and children to swim is much more rewarding and challenging than lifeguarding. I enjoy working with both
children and adults. I become very excited when one of my students who has struggled with a level finally masters it and passes to the next level. I hope to see you at the pool this summer!
