If you do not know what level your child should be in, most of the time we can do an assessment over the phone, but you can drop by the home pool any evening as soon as our last class ends to do a 5 minute $5 evaluation. No need to call in advance, just check the schedule to see what time we end that night and be standing poolside as we wrap up and ask one of the instructors to do an evaluation. Level 1– Ages 3+ This class is designed to introduce new swimmers to basic skills. Students will learn to hold their breath, blow bubbles, float, kick, and begin arm stroke. To graduate from this level they must demonstrate a front float and back float without assistance and kick on their stomach and back a minimum of 5 feet without assistance. Parents will need to sit poolside to help maintain discipline and order while encouraging children to practice while they wait for their turn with the instructor. The water level is 31" so be sure little ones will clear that water height and feel comfortable walking independently in that depth. 3 and 4 year olds who are very uncomfortable with water are encouraged to take a Toddler Time to help with adjusting before taking a Level 1. 55 minutes, M-F, cost $46 Level 2– Participants strengthen their skills from level 1 and progress their arm stroke and breathing techniques to swim the length of the pool. To graduate from this level they must be able to jump from the board or side in the deep end and swim the length of the pool on their stomach and on their back without the instructor in the water with them. 55 minutes, M-F, cost $46 Level 3 – Swimmers learn alternative breathing with the arm stroke, they learn the proper technique for the backstroke and the elementary backstroke. Diving and treading water is also introduced in this level. To graduate from this level they must be able to perform freestyle swimming with alternate breathing, backstroke technique correctly for one lap of the pool, and the elementary backstroke correctly. 55 minutes, M-F, cost $46 Level 4 – Swimmers learn the breaststroke, butterfly, and sidestroke. Diving progresses to standing. To graduate from this class they must be able to demonstrate the breaststroke and sidestroke correctly. 55 minutes, M-F, cost $46 Level 5 – Swimmers learn the butterfly and flip turns. Diving progresses as does endurance with all 6 strokes through increased laps. To graduate from this class they must be able to demonstrate the butterfly correctly. 55 minutes, M-F, cost $46 Level 6 – Swimmers in level 6 will focus on speed, endurance and a polishing of technique of all six strokes. Strokes will not be taught in this level, so a fundamental understanding of all 6 strokes is required. Swimmers will be taught more advanced dives including racing dives, tuck and pike dives. Safety instruction will be given that will provide a keen foundation for swimmers to go on to pursue lifeguard training when they are old enough. To graduate from this course, swimmers must be able to complete the required endurance laps without stopping. They must also be able to retrieve the brick from the deep end and swim it back to the end of the pool on their back with the brick out of the water.(Adult swimmers are welcome to take this class) This is a 2hour class, M-F, cost $75 Adult 1 – Designed for those who fear the deep water and those who just don’t feel comfortable in water period. At the end of one week you will be AMAZED at the progress and comfort level you will achieve. 55 minutes, M-F, cost $46 Adult 2 – Designed for swimmers who are somewhat comfortable in the deep water and are ready to learn more strokes and technique while improving that comfort level. You’ll get a lot of exercise in this class! 55 minutes, M-F, cost $46 Water Babies – For 6weeks-36 months, (3 and 4 year olds who are uncomfortable with water are welcome to take this class before taking a Level 1) this course will introduce babies to the water, provide bonding with parents, provide word association with repetition and structure and at the very least they will learn to LOVE the water. Focus is placed on a fun, child-centered environment where games are mixed with education. This course will introduce toddlers to the concept of holding their breath, kicking, and floating. Parents may or may not need to get in the water, but will need to sit poolside to help maintain structure and order. The instructor will be able to let you know if your child is ready for Level 1 based on his/her ability to listen and follow instructions and height. With this combined age group, it is more of a group private lesson as there is a tremendous difference in abilities and cognition within months. During the water babies class, other siblings not participating are not allowed in the pool and must be supervised. 30 minutes, M-F, cost $46 (limit 4 participants) Private Lessons – available upon request: $50/hour $30/half hour This is for one-on-one lessons, any additional participants will be charged an extra $5 each. |
